Stila is famous for their magnificent metal foil eyeshadows
– liquid and cream, liquid lipsticks and eyeliner. However, their base products
don’t seem to stimulate the excitement among many. Maybe it is due to the
packaging which is not very attractive at all. I took a plunge and bought Stila
Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD beauty balm. I bought this for my mum but it didn’t
reach her somehow. I tried it first time in January but then it didn’t make my
daily makeup routine. For last few weeks I have been using it almost every day
and it became staple. Sorry
mum, I will get you another one xx
Stila stay all day 10-in-1 beauty balm comes in a silver
squeezable tube. It is oil-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free and dermatologist
tested. It is designed for mature skin. It has innovative micro spheres which hide
skin imperfections. Tripeptide-37, bamboo and pea extracts help diminish the
appearance of lines and wrinkles. It has tiniest pigment particles for seamless
finish. It’s long wearing and high definition formula provides smooth coverage
and leaves a silky, powdery finish. It is infused with natural emollients to
increase anti-oxidant activity up to 89.7% what?? Very precise figure. Must be legit
All ten benefits are listed at the back of tube. I don’t
have the ingredients list because I lost the outer eco-friendly but seriously boring
brown carton. But I can tell that it is a silicon based product. However, it
doesn’t have that silicon-y slippery feel like porefessional. It comes in only
one universal shade. The consistency of beauty balm is creamy which dries to
powdery finish. It reminds me of Benefit big easy in terms of texture. It has
slightly cooling effect on my skin and I enjoy it when skin feels little sensitive. It smooths on
skin surface effortlessly and doesn’t cling to dry patches. I noticed that it
turns a tad orange but as the coverage is sheer, it doesn’t look odd on my skin. You
can notice in the photos below where I blended it and at the outer edge it is
slightly orange after drying and settling.
Now Stila markets it as a beauty balm but it is quite different than usual beauty balms. It has no SPF and the coverage is extremely sheer where it is almost invisible over skin.
However, it instantly evens out complexion. Pores look less
visible and skin remains fresh for longer. I notice my fine lines look more
smooth. It also increases the wear time of my foundation when I use is as a
primer because it sits well underneath foundation. It keeps the shine at bay
for longer as well. On a good skin day, a touch of concealer and Stila beauty
balm is all I need. What I like about this product is, it does not suck the
life out of skin. No tightness and uncomfortable feeling skin whatsoever. Although
it is design for mature skin, I don’t see a reason not to be used by younger
skin.
So, where it stands in the categories of BB cream, tinted
moisturiser and primer? In my opinion it is a glorified primer. It works better
than many primers but have less coverage then tinted moisturiser. It has more
skin benefits than other bb creams as I mentioned earlier, natural emollients
to increase anti-oxidant activity and exclusive complex - whatever it means -
helps reduce redness and skin irritation over time but lacks SPF. I personally don’t
fancy makeup products with added skincare benefits. However, if you use this every
single day, then Stila Stay All Day 10-in1 HD beauty balm is a great product to
add in makeup routine due to skin protecting benefits. I enjoy it wearing every day. But if you are looking for
a traditional bb cream then it does not fall in that category.
It’s 45ml tube is available at M&S for £26.
In the memory of my brother
I don't think I'd wear this as a BB Cream anyway as it looks like it'd be too dark for my skin, but it sounds like it works really well as a primer! ♥
ReplyDeleteYes, it is not good as a beauty balm. I tried it out on one of my very pale friend and the shade was not that bad. It somehow melts into the skin.
DeleteI'm not a fan of beauty balms as i love full coverage
ReplyDeleteIt is no good for coverage at all. But very good as a base for foundation.
DeleteI do like the sounds of this product, it looks very natural and I like that.
ReplyDeleteSounds good, I like natural looking products
ReplyDeleteI have never tried beauty balms before but sounds great!
ReplyDeleteLove this review. Need to check this brand out.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing!
ReplyDeleteI've been looking for something a little lighter than foundation to wear to work :)

I've only recently got in to primers (I know I'm so behind the times!) this sounds great though. I'll definitely have a look at this one when my current one runs out.
ReplyDeleteI think for a glorified primer its a bit costly but sounds like it does a decent enough job.
ReplyDeleteSounds worth trying as a primer, the fact you are reaching for it daily is a great recommendation
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up! I'm always wary about makeup brands mis-selling their products :/
ReplyDeleteHands up, I actually wouldnt know the difference between a BB cream, Primer or Tinted moisturiser but judging from everyone else says, it is a seemingly good product.
