Makeup Anti-Haul

makeup-anti-haul-khaista-blogs

Anti-haul is a new concept in blogging universe. The whole idea behind the anti-haul posts or videos is to talk about those products which are quite hyped and you want to buy them at any cost but decide otherwise for several reasons. I found this idea very interesting and decided to do my take on it.

I will be sharing few of makeup products/brands which I, at one point, was hovering over but after some thoughts, I decided to not spend my money on them. These products are not particularly mediocre or bad quality; I just don’t see myself enjoying them much. When I first decided to write this post, I had a huge list of products. But once I started writing it was so difficult for me to narrow down products. However, after lots of Ooh!! Aww!! No!! oh no I just can’t!!! these were the top products/brand where I kept my head strong.
So, without further ado, let’s jump into it.

Lancôme La Rose A Poudrer

Lancôme iridescence highlighter loose powder blush sprinkled over fake rose. Lancôme introduced it as limited edition and it is out of stock now. It was packaged mainly for vanity display and costed £35. When I saw it first, I wanted it so bad due to the packaging. It was pretty and it was fun. But then I got a chance to try out the product in person. And boy I was unimpressed. The packaging was not worth the money at all. It looked so pretty in photos but it was very ordinary looking box. The rose detailing was also not very high quality. Although the product itself was very pretty but not something which cannot be duped. So, if you are gutted about not having it in your collection, believe me you are not missing out anything.

Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lightening Blush

I love Hourglass ambient powders and ambient blushes but I don’t think their new strobe lightening blushes will be any different. Shade selection is very decent and vibrant in comparison to ambient lightening blushes. But Hourglass blushes come out very sheer anyway. And I am assuming these blushes will be very glowy like many others already available. Thus, I am passing on them, although visually I am very attracted to these blushes. They are relatively new and didn’t hear much about these yet. I don’t know how much hype they will get in blogging community in near future. So, before I chicken out, these blushes are added in anti-haul post to remind myself I don’t need more blushes.

Penny for your thoughts. Will it be consider cheating if I get the three blushes palette instead of every single strobe blush? I am so torn but my other blushes are almost untouched. Why Hourglass? Why would you do this to us? A three blush palette (3.3g) retails for £59 at Space.NK

Jeffree Star Makeup

I don’t have anything in-particular against Jeffree or the brand itself. But I feel that all the products are very trendy, expensive – for what they are – and not wearable on day to day basis. I try to add more classic item in my collection where I can justify my spending by using them for long period. And I don't see such products in the range. I heard good things about their liquid lipsticks. And may be I get one or two but I can survive by not having them. I am right, right?

Well my friends, these are main three products/brand without which I am quite comfortable to live. I need to keep repeating it to myself until it sinks in completely.

Anti-haul videos were introduced by Kimberly Clarke. Her YouTube anti-haul videos are the best. She is funny and witty. Check out her channel and videos, I bet you will love them. What you guys think of the concept? Did you ever had second thoughts and walked away from something you desperately wanted? Share your experience in the comment section below.

  1. I agree with Jeffree Star collections... i feel like those brands are the way too new to be so ridiculously overpriced. It is the same with kylie cosmetics.. it is a new brand and no one really have any experiences with it in long term so it is a bit funny the starting price is so high. Brands such as Channel are expensive because over the time they build up to the highest quality.. i feel like new brands are trying to skip the time of getting loyal customers. Basically with Kylie and Jeffree Star, we pay pretty much for the name not for the quality.
Really good idea, i like this post xx

    1. You made a good point. These new brands really need to work to claim such high price.

  2. I agree with Jeffree Star bits, most of the colours just aren't everyday wearable for me. I love the Hourglass blushes but not the lightning bits x

    1. JS products are good for experimental makeup artists. Too trendy to add in collection.

  3. I am the worst at stopping myself from buying something especially when it comes to clothes, but this is a great idea.

  4. Some brands can be pretty expensive when you consider the price of the ingredients although there are some lovely albeit expensive ones out there.

  9. I didn't know about anti-haul, but I agree it's a great concept. Sometimes, you discover amazing products through other blogs, but sometimes it's just a cheap marketing plot.

    1. Very true. That's why I put a lot of thinking in purchasing makeup items.

  10. I've not heard of anti-haul posts or vlogs before but it's a good concept. I don't buy Lancome as they're not CF but I did hear about the rose product and I thought it was probably more the packaging than anything else that was appealing. I'd like to try JF products and I probably would splurge for a liquid lipstick or two as I've heard they're amazing xx
